About

Latisha is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer with 20 years of experience of making dance fun for everyone. As a child of Haitian descent, born and raised in Brooklyn New York, Latisha has always been immersed in a culture of storytelling, music, and dance.
After studying dance at CUNY Lehman College, she continued her studies in dance education at the Dance Education Laboratory- 92nd Street Y NYC. Her current practice is inspired by her Haitian heritage; Cuban, Brazilian, West African culture; and Katherine Dunham technique. Latisha’s training includes study in Cuba, Brazil, and Haiti.

Latisha offers workshops around the world with the aim of preserving culture, encouraging creativity, and building community.

Culture

Latisha’s passion for the preservation and sharing of her culture has led her to take part several creative collaborations. This includes choreography for Edson Burton’s work the Last Blues Song, presenting work as part of the Roots of Rumba Tour by Ella Mesma Dance and hosting Kriye Bode Dance as part of the Krik Krak Festival.

Creativity

Latisha offers classes and workshops in creative movement, music, storytelling, and play for dancers from two to 92. Her many years of experience include early childhood education and classes for people who are differently abled. Latisha’s classes are aimed at caring for the whole self and include mindfulness and meditation.

Community

Latisha’s commitment to community led her to start Saias Liberdade- a community dance project that explores social and folkoric Afro Caribbean dance traditions including Afro Brazilian and Haitian dance. As a performance group, their work has been showcased around the South West of England
